It’s not always about the Red Bull-cranberry-vodka cocktails at EDM nightclubs. Sometimes you just want a good, old-fashioned beer, coupled with gambling or the latest sports game. And with game season frenzy, there’s no better time than to do a little brewski research. Here are the hottest spots to kick back with a craft beer in Las Vegas.
THE HOLY GRAIL
TAG just may be the star standout for where to drink a beer in Las Vegas. Located at The LINQ Hotel, TAG boasts more than 300 craft, domestic and import brews from around the world. Think rare selections from around the world, a beer-infused menu of “hoptails” and draft spouts literally on your table, so you can pour to your heart’s desire. In addition to its beer-heavy menu, the setting is heaven for both sports and gaming enthusiasts. It’s complete with 40 screens to watch the latest sports games, and has 60 interactive electronic games including touchscreen table top gaming units. TAG is also the only place in town to feature multi-hand blackjack dealers on a hologram. Bonus: There’s also a betting station at the bar, saving a trip to the sports book.
If you’re a beer aficionado, Yard House at The LINQ should be one of the first stops on your list. There are literally pages of the menu devoted to beer, all categorized including the genre, alcoholic content, origin city and price by “shorty, pint and half yard.” The brand has its own craft beers, or you can get into trying a few seasonal ciders. The handy taste notes make it easy to find what you’re looking for, from bitter or floral to malty or dark. There are even two creative beer blends. We like the Rose Gaarden: Hoegaarden White plus Framboise, plus beer floats, six pack samples and 160 draft beers. The seasonal and limited drafts are the most intriguing, so taste testa few pumpkin flavored brews to get you in the Autumn mood.
Want a contemporary, but laid-back atmosphere to grab some grub and catch a few games? Gordon Ramsay Pub & Grill at Caesars Palace not only features gourmet food by the acclaimed British chef, but plenty of televisions screening the latest sports and a long list of beers by the glass or pint, obvi. (Try the Pacific Pear and Draft Cider.) Las Vegas’ best pub experience also offers Hell’s Kitchen Happy Hour.Look forward to $5 13-ounce draft beers, with a $2 upgrade for a 20oz pint, $5 draft wines, and $5-7 pub snacks. (Not to mention beer bucket and cocktail deals.) These specials are available Monday through Friday, from 2 p.m. – 5 p.m.
TRENDY IN A GLASS
Caesars Palace’s Lobby Bar recently completed a swanky renovation—and so did its cocktail menu. Now packed with super fancy, hand-crafted drinks created by famed mixologist Tony Abou-Ganim, there’ something for every taste. Want to drink like a real high roller? Order the Tennessee Highball #2, a concoction of an exclusive, limited edition Jack Daniel’s Sinatra Select Tennessee Whiskey, fresh-squeezed lemon juice, Fee Brothers orange bitters, Fever-Tree ginger beer and gomme syrup. Priced at $50 a drink, savoring each drop of this ultra-premium rare drink is worth every penny.
If you don’t venture to Bally’s Las Vegas’ BLT Steak for its swanky Sterling Brunch, at least sidle up to the bar for a few drinks before hitting the town. We love the Cool Woodford with Woodford Reserve and ginger beer. Even better? Guests can enjoy these cocktails half-priced at the bar from 4 p.m. – 7 p.m., daily.
AN ALL-AMERICAN KICK
Nothing is more American than beer (with a side of apple pie, that is), and ameriCAN at The LINQ Promenade gives you a bevy of choices. The kicker? They offer more than 70 canned beers curated from every single state in the good ol’ USA. So whether you want to try a California brew with a hint of grapefruit or Montana’s famous Moose Drool brown ale and organic lagers, they’ve got your back. Pro tip: ameriCAN is especially great for taking out-of-towners who want to discover new favorites. Go for a ride on the High Roller observation wheel at sunset, then hit ameriCAN for a boozy trip around the country.
All-American chef and television personality Guy Fieri is someone we’d love to kick back and have a beer with—and his restaurant at The LINQ Hotel offers several choices. Guy Fieri’s Vegas Kitchen & Bar features a long list of beers to enjoy with his Double Barrel BBQ Wings. Ace Perry Cider and Sierra Nevada Pale Ale join staples like Miller Lite and Blue Moon. Feeling bold? You can take Guy’s beer flight through Flavortown with 16 beers for $38. Never to be outdone, Fieri is also hip to the beer cocktails trend, too. His Rebel Dragon drink includes ginger beer, while the Java Guava is topped with Thai chili beer.
Offering killer drink deals in an easy breezy (and boozy) scene, Margaritaville at Flamingo invites you to drift away to its own version of paradise, right on Las Vegas Boulevard. While enjoying a lively bar scene and nightly entertainment, you’ll love the three-level restaurant’s island fare, huge portions and slushy, fruity drinks. Order buckets of beer or by the glass. Angry Orchard Hard Cider, Goose Island, Guinness Draft, Stella Artois and Breckenridge Agave Wheat are a few of the specialty beers. Feeling adventurous? The Loaded Landshark drink features LandShark Lager topped with Margaritaville Island Lime Tequila.
The kitschy, whimsical Serendipity 3 may be renowned for its Frrrozen Hot Chocolate, but its location at Caesars Palace, view and happy hour make it high on our beer list. Among an All-American menu, enjoy $5 happy hour specials from 2 p.m. – 6 p.m. daily, including a variety of beers and small bites. The whole restaurant was recently remodeled with an expanded outdoor patio that includes a full-service bar sitting thisclose to The Strip with killer outdoor scenery.
Located in Planet Hollywood Resort’s hot shopping destination, Miracle Mile Shops, Sin City Brewing Co. is a casual, walk-up bar with several choices of beer made right in Nevada. There are five custom brews plus a seasonal flavor, but we like The Dark Side of Skin—a traditional Irish Dry Stout with hints of coffee and chocolate.
DEALS TO STEAL
Beer pong tournaments are the name of the game at O’Sheas, where its Lucky the Leprechaun mascot encourages drinking by the pint. This combo pub-casino at The LINQ is an ideal place to listen to live music, hit the table games or kick back and peruse more than 50 types of beer. Its popular beer bucket specials and 100-ounce football helmet beer are some of the most popular deals of the season, so Monday nights are especially fun.
Harrah’s Las Vegas’ Toby Keith’s I Love This Bar & Grill has a country music party bar scene, live bands and oversized burgers galore. The happy hour deal is one of the best in town: buy one draft beer in a 32oz. Mason Jar for $9 and get one free, Monday through Thursday from 11:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Ready to get rowdy? An Irish-themed sports bar with signature sexy servers, Tilted Kilt at The LINQ will have you asking for an Irish car bomb in no time. In between sampling the lengthy beer menu, downing its signature pub pretzels and admiring the waitresses, enjoy sports games broadcast on numerous TVs so you don’t have to miss a minute. If you’re not liquored up enough to party as hard as the Irish, down one of Tilted Kilt’s beer cocktails, the Beergarita. It blends 1800 Silver Tequila, Cointreau, premium lime sour, Blue Moon beer and Angostura Bitters.
