Giada launches breakfast with waffles, pressed juice & donuts

Just when you thought you couldn’t get enough of her antipasti, bucatini and paninis, culinary goddess Giada De Laurentiis reels you in again—this time with morning favorites like eggs and waffles. De Laurentiis’ restaurant, Giada, at The Cromwell has only been open a few months, but dinner and weekend reservations are still booked out for weeks. Luckily, Giada’s new breakfast service folds into her irresistable lunch (8 a.m. to 2:15 p.m. daily) so diners now have a better shot at a reservation and even more choices to nosh on. (Waffles at noon—Why not?)

Of course this is De Laurentiis we’re talking about, so every dish gets an Italian twist and a splash of gourmet goodness. I loved that she features health wonderfood chia seeds in her yogurt parfait, and added béchamel to her savory polenta waffles, and Nutella and strawberries for the sweet option. Behold, De Laurentiis’ new breakfast creations…

Salmon Cake Benedict salmon cakes, wilted spinach, piquillo peppers, poached eggs with prosecco hollandaise and toast

Italian Hash marble potatoes, Nueske’s bacon, finocchoina salumi, peppers, tomato, onion confit with a sunny side up egg and toast

Breakfast American two eggs served any style, lemon smashed potatoes with your choice of sweet sausage meatballs or bacon and toast

Breakfast Contadina two eggs served any style, crispy polenta cakes, wilted spinach, oven roasted tomatoes and toast

Polenta en Cocotte creamy polenta, spicy sausage, dried cranberries, calabrian chile with two poached eggs and toast

Sunrise Polenta Waffle pancetta, chives, noble maple syrup, béchamel and a sunny side up egg

Strawberry Polenta Waffle fresh strawberries, grilled pineapple and Nutella

Chia Seed Parfait fresh raspberry, chia seeds, maple sweetened Greek yogurt and toasted marcona almonds

These go along with her phenomenal menu of specialty coffee drinks, plus new fresh pressed juices. There’s also a pastry order with four delightful confections that are almost too pretty to eat. The rosemary scone was about the best carbohydrate I’ve ever had in life, and the chocolate donut, which is vegan, was better than any donut I’d ever inhaled.
